Crescent Club Annual Banquet - Friday May 23rd - Featuring Guest Speaker Mike Stothers.
The Crescent Athletic Club is pleased to welcome Mike Stothers as our guest speaker during our annual banquet.
Mike is a former professional hockey player having played over 700 professional games between the AHL and NHL. After his playing career Mike switched focus to coaching. Mike has served as a professional coach, both assistant and head, for such teams as our Owen Sound Attack, Hersey Bears, Grand River Rapids, Philadelphia Flyers, Manchester Monarchs/Ontario Reign where he won a Calder Cup and most recently as an Assistant Coach of the Anaheim Ducks.
Please join us for a night of fellowship and great stories.
Tickets are $30, this includes entry to the banquet and catered meal.

The Crescent Athletic Club annual general meeting for 2025 took place January 13th, 2025.
We would like to say thank you to outgoing President, Ron Glenn, for a successful 2024.
We also want to say thank you to Tom White who, after 30 years and multiple tenures as President and Vice President, is stepping down from the Crescent Club executive group.

About the club

The Crescent Athletic Club of Owen Sound, Ontario was envisioned and founded in 1920 by like-minded sportsmen as a viable way to bind interests, commitments and the continuance of minor sports teams in the community. Historically a not-for-profit men's organization with the aim to support local athletic teams. Today the club functions in much the same way it was originally fashioned. A place for members to meet and greet in the club rooms for drinks, camaraderie and some gifted gab. Club banquets and sports events like golf, darts and curling tournaments generate proceeds to help keep the club running and to raise donation funds for minor sports teams in Owen Sound when it is possible to do so.
One time visiting guest speaker; NHL Hall of Famer Marcel Dion said: clubs like the CAC are rare or don't exist anymore. He's right, they don't, times have changed. Customs, culture, rules of the road have all changed. A number of generations have come and gone through the club rooms and along with it the golden years it would seem. But this club remains solvent and firmly in tact with plans for continuing well into the future. 2022 was a historic year as the Crescent Athletic Club celebrated 102 years. A rare organization with humble beginnings that has withstood years of ups and downs and the many tests of time. New members are always welcome as membership drives the club and keeps contributions going to our young men and young women's sports teams.
